About

Geralda de Graaf is a Visual Artist and Fine Art Streetphotographer based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

She studied Textile Art and followed the Dutch academy of Photography (Fotoacademie). Geralda is passionated wandering the streets and catch the moments, capture them with an eye for visual forms, rhyme and shadow. Her style authentic, sometimes graphic, sometimes poetic. 'How can an image evoke inspiration, when we may not know the person in the picture and have never traveled to where the photo was taken? My goal is to inspire those to look more carefully at the world around them to discover beauty in unusual places'.

In addition to streetphotography, she also makes  autonomous work mostly short stories with a poetic touch. This can be with the camera or through mixed media, handmade collages. The technique she uses is collecting, organizing, structuring, documenting and reconstructing her own or found images. Through the medium of collage she combines paper, old photos, textiles and pencil into a new image with an intended or unintended story.

Geralda is co-founder of Street Avengers, an international streetphotography collective, and moderator of their instagram account. She also a member of CBK (Centrum Beeldende Kunst) and Kunstwerkt in Rotterdam, and KunstinBeeld

'De Graaf takes a big pleasure in photographing everyday life, details and city perspectives that's right in front of you -but sometimes hard to see when hurrying past it'. -Uppsala fotofestival-
